All of our products are carved from solid, natural British limestone. The stone was formed 150 million years ago under a shallow, tropical sea that covered Bath and the Cotswold's and is made from tiny fossilised crustaceans.
Famed for being used to build the quaint villages of the Cotswolds, the stone found in the Cotswold region is a beautiful honey coloured limestone.
The colours of Cotswold stone vary greatly throughout the region. Stone quarried in the north is a rich and warm amber colour and famed for being the building stone of the Cotswold villages. As you move further south, towards the centre of the Cotswolds, the stone becomes more mellow and honey coloured, finishing in Bath where it is a creamy white with grey hues.
Our Bath stone.
Mined since Roman and Medieval periods, Bath stone's finely grained consistency and creamy-buff colour have made it a classic choice for many properties throughout the world. Small grey shell does run through the stone. They are completely natural and add another layer of detail to our carvings.
Our Cotswold Stone.
Our Cotswold stone is quarried near Chipping Campden, considered one of the most beautiful villages in the Cotswolds and highly regarded for its stonework. It is more rustic that Bath stone, with more texture. Quartz veins do run through the stone, these can be grey or brown coloured and are naturally occurring, adding lovely detail.
We offer Cotswold stone in two shades, Cotswold Cream and Cotswold Gold. The Cream is more of a honey, yellow colour and the gold a deeper amber.
